The HDF 1.14.4 release is now available from the HDF5 1.14.4 download page. This is a maintenance release with several nice improvements and additions.
On March 30th, we announced the release of HDF5 version 1.10.2. With this release, we accomplished all the tasks planned for the major HDF5 1.10 series. It is time for applications to start migrating (or start their migration) from HDF5 1.8 to the new major release as we will be dropping support for HDF5 1.8 in Summer 2019. In this blog post , we will focus only on the major new features and bug fixes in HDF5 1.10.2. Hopefully, after reading about those, you will be convinced it is time to upgrade to HDF5 1.10.2.

The HDF Group is ready to announce a new major release, HDF5 1.12.0. This will be the first release that allows our users to access HDF5 data stored on non-POSIX storage, such as Cloud or Object Store. HSDS (Highly Scalable Data Service) is a REST based service for HDF data, part of HDF Cloud, our set of solutions for cloud deployments. In the recent blog about the latest release of HSDS we discussed many of the new features in the 0.6 release including support for Azure.
On Friday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. CDT, Dana Robinson and Joe Lee of The HDF Group presented a webinar covering the major new features of the HDF5 1.13.0 release. They discussed the pluggable virtual file drivers (VFDs) and changes to the virtual object layer (VOL) and showed how to build and use the async, pass-through, and cache VOL connectors.
Several new HDF5 CVE issues have been filed in MITRE and these should be released to the public sometime in the next few weeks. They are all fixed in HDF5 1.14.4 (released April 15, 2024) and no MITRE CVE issues are unaddressed.
