Latest Official Release of HDF: 4.2r4 [ Newsletter 105 ] [ Release File ] [ INSTALL file ] [ Previous Releases]

The latest formal release of HDF4 can be obtained from this page. HDF4 requires the ZLIB and JPEG external libraries. The pre-compiled binaries below are built with these as well as the SZIP (encoder enabled) library, but they do not include these libraries.

External Software

The following libraries are REQUIRED by HDF, but are not part of HDF.

PLEASE be aware that the external software below (especially JPEG and ZLIB) is provided for convenience reasons ONLY and comes WITHOUT a guarantee. We encourage users to use the ZLIB and JPEG library that is installed on their systems.
 

External Libraries used by HDF

NOTE:
- The SZIP configuration changed in version 2.1, but this did not affect the built SZIP 2.0 binaries.
- The SZIP Encoder is ENABLED in the HDF binaries included below. This version allows a user to create, write, and read datasets with SZIP compression. Please review the SZIP licensing information.
- The ZLIB library is included in the HDF binaries below.

HDF 4 Software

The pre-compiled binaries listed in the table below are built with and therefore require the SZIP, ZLIB, and JPEG libraries, external to HDF. The SZIP Encoder is ENABLED in these binaries.

PLEASE take note of the compilers used to build the pre-compiled binaries below. If your compiler or compiler versions are different than those shown, then you may need to build HDF from source.

The locations in the table below are relative to the HDF software location shown above.

HDF 4.2r4 Software

* The binary distribution includes the libraries, include files, pre-compiled binary utilities, and release notes. They were built with the SZIP (encoder enabled), ZLIB, and JPEG libraries included.
