Release of HDF 4.2.8
The HDF 4.2.8 release is now available. It can be obtained from the HDF Downloads page:

HDF 4.2.8 is a minor release with a few new features and changes, including the following:

Modifications were made in support of the HDF Mapping Project:

The function, GRgetpalinfo, was added to allow applications to get information about palettes.

Support was added to the library and hdp to detect IMCOMP compression.

A new function, GRgetcomptype, was added for returning an image's compression, including IMCOMP.

Support was added for Mac OS X 10.7.4 with GNU gcc and gfortran.
